In my search for a good PC FPS and a good first-person RPG, I was recommended Deus Ex by a fellow RPGCer. Deus Ex is a very expansive RPG in the vein of Elder Scrolls, but with a huge twist. What would that be? It’s an FPS. A very futuristic FPS. This is one of the greatest ideas I have in recent games, read the rest to find out more about this awesome game.

The main draw to the game is the number of options available to the player, not only in each mission but throughout the course of the game. Should you choose to get skills in heavy weapons and machine gun down every enemy soldier, you’ll have some destructive fun, but certain characters will dislike your love for guns, and other will applaud you. Of course, the inverse is also correct: incapacitating all enemy soldiers with no casualties will make you loved by some and hated by others.

I began the game with MKIII (my code name, stolen from Mega Man X: Command Mission) having advanced skills in Computer and trained skills in Pistol weapons. The computer skills allow me to hack into enemy computers and disable their cameras/turrets, etc and also allow me to hack into ATMs to withdraw funds. Pistol skills, obviousl, make me more proficient in said arms. Other skills include Heavy Weapons, Explosives, Rifles, Electronics (security systems and whatnot), Swimming, Environmental Training, and Lockpicking. These skills are all really great, and depending on your style, more or less effective.

I’m doing a kill-almost-everyone approach this time, then I’m going to do a silent-assassin game where I kill none, and finally a Sniper Rifle killer playthrough. What I’ll do after that, I’m not sure, but I’ll most likely play through this awesome game many times.
