Games I’m Looking Forward To July 31, 2007

Yeah, I know, don’t end your sentences in a preposition, whatever. Anyways, I’ve been looking around, and I’ve come up with a list of games that are worthy of a purchase. I do know, however, that I have my money spent for a very long time, so the first chance I’ll have to even think about getting these games will be some time next year. But, one can always hope, right? Here they are.
Mega Man ZX: Advent (DS): The sequel to Mega Man ZX, Advent brings back the gameplay from said game, and really improves on it, bringing us another great MM game to a handheld system. Advent fixes the map problem (as far as I know), and features many different metals (suits) and this time around new abilities based on animals (sounds crappy, but it’s a really good idea). The game is already out, and I’m really wanting this game.
Etrian Odyssey (DS): Etrian Odyssey reinvents the FPRPG (First-Person Role Playing Game) on Nintendo’s DS. The game might be somewhat bland in the story department, but who cares about storylines anyway? The game puts you in a town with a 30 floor dungeon which you have to explore. Sounds fairly straightforward, so what’s the catch? There’s no map, even when you explore the dungeon, and one of your main quests is to map the dungeon. Yes, that’s right, you have to draw the map as you play. Might sound stupid to some, but, in my opinion, it looks like a great game with a huge twist on classic gameplay.
Brave Story: New Traveler (PSP): I don’t know a lot about this game, but if you’re interested, you can find a great review here. The game is a classic turn-based RPG featuring some of the best graphics I’ve seen on the PSP so far. This one is a definite addition to my collection (once I get a PSP :))
The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion (PSP): Another console-style turn-based RPG, LoH looks beautiful in a different way. 3d backgrounds with 2d sprites? Wicked. In the need of a very old-school style RPG, LoH should fill my desires.
There you have it. The games that I want, the ones that look good.
