Well, I got a little sidetracked and finished Black Hawk Down instead of Okage. Anyways, the game was great, and features one of the most emotional points in any video game I’ve played (which will be covered at the end of my contest). When I get to this one in the contest, I’ll just skip it over.

Graphics: The graphics in this game are nice. The backgrounds and environments are especially great, they remind you a lot of the movie, and the real-life footage from the war. The weapons are nice, and they’re very detailed, and when you sight in (L1), there’s even more detail. The character models are nice, but they look like any PC FPS game, so they’re not anything to write home about (not that you’d write home about anything concerning video games…). All in all the graphics are good, and only once I ever saw a “blue horizon” (where you can see farther than the game has loaded), which is very impressive, because some areas are huge, and you’re brought in by helo.

Audio: Hmm… No real comment on this. The death and pain screams of the enemies are nice, and the weapons sound real life-like. There’s no music in-game as far as I know, so that’s another “no comment”. Now, the strong point of the audio is your team member’s screams. They range from “I’m under fire, need backup!” to warnings like “Sniper fire from the left!” to the sad, sometimes infuriating “Man down, man down!”. The voice acting is the strong point of the game.

Gameplay: Have you played any FPS? If so, you’ve played Black Hawk Down. While the game is squad-based, you’ll never feel crushed by it, but you will feel the need to take care of them. And, if one dies, you’ll get mad, and want to avenge his death. This game is based on cover, so you need to go from tires to rubble to doorways etc. You have a choice of three different weapons types: the long range, high powered, super accurate sniper rifle; the mid range, low powered, mid accurate assault rifle; and the high powered, short range, not-very-accurate machine gun. All in all, great gameplay that builds upon an already good system.

Play/Replay Value: The game has an okay length (less than 10 hours), but if you’re hardcore like me, then you’ll play the game through a lot, especially since there’s 3 difficulties. If you have some friends, or online capabilities, then you’ll play a lot more, as the multiplayer battles are really fun.

Will I Buy the Sequel?: I’m tempted to buy Sabre Wolf, we’ll see how my budget runs.

Rent or Buy?: Buy the game, no question. Unless you flash through FPS games, and throw them out, buy the game, you won’t regret it.
